KindPath Collective Inc
Participant Money and Property Policy
Version 1.0 | Effective: 29 August 2026 | Review: 29 August 2027 | Owner: Director
1. Purpose
To protect participants from financial exploitation, however unintentional, and keep KindPath’s own financial dealings with participants transparent.
2. Legislative and standards basis
NDIS Practice Standards, Module 4: Support Provision Environment — Management of participants’ money and property.
3. Policy statement
Workers do not access, hold, or use a participant’s money, bank cards, or property beyond what is specifically agreed and documented (for example, being reimbursed for an agreed purchase made on the participant’s behalf). Any private financial arrangement between a worker and a participant — such as being paid directly for a service alongside NDIS-funded support — is disclosed under the Conflict of Interest Policy and kept fully separate and transparent from any NDIS-funded claim.
4. Procedure
- Workers do not handle a participant’s cash, cards, or accounts unless specifically agreed in the support plan, with a clear record of what was purchased and receipts kept.
- A participant’s property (instruments, equipment, personal belongings) is treated with the same care as the worker’s own, and never used, borrowed, or removed without the participant’s specific agreement each time.
- Private financial arrangements (e.g. a participant privately paying a worker for a service like music production, alongside their NDIS-funded supports) are documented, kept separate from any NDIS claim, and reviewed periodically to make sure the arrangement isn’t creating financial pressure on the participant or blurring what’s funded support versus a personal transaction.
- Any concern about financial exploitation — by a KindPath worker or by anyone else in a participant’s life — is treated as a safeguarding matter under the Safeguarding Policy.
5. Roles and responsibilities
- Director: reviews any private financial arrangement between a worker and participant for fairness and appropriate separation from NDIS funding.
- Workers: keep clear records of any agreed handling of a participant’s money or property.
